Intel Spearheads Increased AI Integration at Paris 2024 Olympics

IOC unveils "AI Agenda" for Olympic Games Paris 2024

As the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and Paralympics draw nearer, the IOC has revealed its “AI agenda” for the upcoming games, heralding what is expected to be the most technologically advanced event in history.

IOC President Thomas Bach has unveiled a range of new AI-powered services and tools aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

From social media monitoring to athlete preparation to broadcasting, AI is poised to play a significant role in the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024, commencing on July 26th.

IOC AI agenda

“At today’s IOC AI Agenda launch event in London, we are taking another stride towards preserving the distinctiveness of the Olympic Games and the significance of sport. To achieve this, we must be pioneers of change, not mere subjects to it,” remarked Bach.

“With the rapid advancement of digital technology, especially AI, we find ourselves once more at a pivotal juncture of transformation,” he remarked, highlighting that this marks the first instance where a comprehensive strategy for AI utilization at a major sporting event has been devised.

Bach emphasized that the sports realm is fortunate not to grapple with what he termed “the existential question” confronting other sectors of society regarding whether AI will supplant human roles. He pointed out, “in sport, performance will always need to be delivered by the athlete.”

Rather than dwelling on concerns about AI replacing athletes, the IOC and the sports community at large can focus on harnessing the potential of AI to bolster and support athletes.
